If you haven't seen these animated gifs by Jamie Beck and Kevin Burg yet, you are in for a treat. These aren't your run of the mill early 90's gifs, they're more aptly called cinemagraphs by their creators.The idea for cinegraphs came up when the pair was preparing for Fashion Week. They wanted to tell more of a story than a single frame but didn't want the hassle of creating a video. I love the ones where you stare at the image, waiting to see what will happen. Terra Kate is a wonderfully talented, self-taught, photographer based out of nearby Ocala,FL. Many of her photos are self portraits based in dreamlike sequences, underwater scenes and surreal atmospheres. She definitely has a wonderfully active and creative mind.

This is a cool project by photographer Michael Wesley entitled Open Shutter Projekt was created from exposures over a three year period from 2001-2004. It shows the changes that have taken place in New York and Berlin over that time.

Here's the caption: "The plane of our home galaxy, the Milky Way, seems to cascade over sandstone hills in a long-exposure nighttime shot taken earlier this month in Algeria's Tassili n'Ajjer National Park, in the heart of the Sahara. The bright "star" at left is the gas giant planet Jupiter. A UN World Heritage site, Tassili n'Ajjer is famous for its caves filled with thousands of drawings and engravings that date as far back as 6000 B.C. Photographer Babak Tafreshi writes on The World At Night (TWAN) astrophotography website that "prehistoric skygazers surely witnessed a similar sky."
